Anastasia D. “Ana” Davis Smith

Ana D. Smith, 79, of Sheridan, Wyoming died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County in Sheridan, Wyoming. Ana was born August 26, 1931 in Hyannis, Nebraska to Harry & Anastacia (Breihaus) Davis.Ana grew up and graduated from high school in Hyannis. She taught school in Nebraska until she married George "Bud" Smith on October 29, 1950, in Bingham, Nebraska. They worked on several ranches in the sand hills of Nebraska where she cooked. In 1960, they moved to Chadron, Nebraska where she worked as secretary & bookkeeper for a dentist. They moved to Billings, Montana in 1980 and then moved to Sheridan in 1989. In Sheridan, she worked as a secretary at RENEW until she retired in 2005. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Ana enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and doing crafts. She was a great homemaker. Ana loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.Ana was preceded in death by her son Loren, brothers, James, Harvey and Harry Davis and her sister, Marion.Ana is survived by her husband George "Bud" Smith of Sheridan; sons Bruce "JB" & wife Amy of Lolo, Montana and Brett & wife Lora of Sheridan; brothers Leonard Davis of Ashby, Nebraska and Gene Davis of Hyannis, Nebraska; sister Helen Stroud of Arvada, Colorado; four grandchildren Ana, Peyton, Ed & Hillary Smith.Burial was in the Hyannis Cemetery, Hyannis, NE.
