
Anna B. "Anne" Byrtus

Anna B. (Anne) Byrtus, 86, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, Montana.
Anne was born November 15, 1925 in Ucross, Wyoming to Paul H. and Anna (Rucki) Byrtus. The family moved to the Lower Piney Creek area in May of 1929 where Paul and Anna purchase the property owned by Lester Sturdevent and now owned by Raymond Plank. All of the children received their elementary education at the old Stone School that bordered their ranch, and then graduated from Clearmont or Sheridan High Schools. The girls then attended Sheridan Business College. While Anne was going to school in Clearmont, she lived on the ranch on Lower Piney Creek and rode the school bus to Clearmont. The bus rides at times became very exciting.
Anne graduated from Clearmont High School in 1945 and then moved to Sheridan where she attended Sheridan Business College. She worked for Dr. Booth and Dr. Bloom for nine years. Anne then moved to Billings, Montana in 1956 and was employed by the Security Bank for sixteen years and the State of Montana for two years. She then returned to Sheridan and was employed by the First National Bank.
Anne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed fishing, knitting, and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Joe, Paul, and John Byrtus; and sisters Helen Delf, and Emeline McCormick.
Anne is survived by four nieces, Mary Lee Egnaczak, of Laramie, Wyoming, Trish Clabaugh, of Price, Utah, Gail Evans, of Tulsa Oklahoma, and Jeanette Mackey, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven nephews, Paul Byrtus, of Washington, D. C., Bob Byrtus, of Bend, Oregon, Don Byrtus, of Denver, Colorado, David Withrow, of Sheridan, Wyoming, Bob McCormick and Brian McCormick, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Curt McCormick, of Denver, Colorado; and one sister, Stella B. Withrow, of Sheridan, Wyoming; and two sister-in-laws Ethel Byrtus, of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Harriett Byrtus, of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Memorial service for Anne will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Lewis Shepard officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
