Charles E. Burr, 92, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Davenport, Neb., March 18, 1920, to Marguerite (Lowrey) and Edward Burr.

The family moved to Rozet and homesteaded there. Charles graduated from Rozet High School. In his year book, he was labeled "Chuckling, Chattering, Cheerful, Charles."

Charles married Eileen Eads on June 20, 1942, in Hardin, Mont.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen, of 68 years, his granddaughter Stephanie Burr, and sister Mildred Mooney of Gillette.

Charles was a construction fabricator, a welder and a mechanic all his life. At the age of 37, he lost his right eye in a welding accident but it never slowed him down. He continued to build anything and everything from rock crushers to his own travel trailer.

He was a firm man, but would teach anyone who was willing to learn. He worked for Reeves Construction, Peter Kiewit & Sons, JD Pelesky Construction and Mullinax Concrete before retirement.

Charles is survived by son, Jim (Jolene) and their family, Ryan (Holly) of Beltsville, Md., Amy of Sundance, Brittnie and Rusty of Sheridan; daughter, Janis (Ed) Legerski and their family, Bronco, Cory (T'Leye) and great-grandson, Reno, all of Sheridan; son, Ron (Tammy) of Buffalo, and their family, Ronni (Kurt) Okraski and great-grandson, Cole of Scottsdale, Ariz., and great-granddaughter, Sara Mickelson of Sheridan; and daughter, Barb (Bob) Elmore of Sheridan. Surviving siblings include, Evelyn Fisher of Sheridan, Leslie Burr of Gillette, Walter Burr of Omaha, Neb., Kenneth Burr of Moorcroft and Curtis Burr (Doris) of Mesa, Ariz.

Our family would like to thank Champion Ferries Funeral Home for their prompt, professional and courteous assistance in all matters including arrangements for cremation.

At Charles' request, no memorial service is planned.
