Charles E. "Chuck" Pollard

About:

On October 13, 2010, Charles E. “Chuck” Pollard had his name registered in that tally book for the last great roundup in the sky.

Chuck Pollard was born December 26, 1927, in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Herb and Vita Pollard. Chuck was the youngest of four siblings, joining his two sisters; Mary and Frances and one brother George.

He attended school in the Upton, Wyoming area, leaving school to work in the local bentonite plant. His employment also led him to work with Haliburton in the oil fields of Wyoming and Utah. After leaving there, he worked for ranches in the Upton and Moorcroft, Wyoming area. It was at this time, he met Charlotte Krause.

They were married on October 19, 1957, in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Into this marriage, they brought his two sons: Ronald and Mark, and her two daughters: LynnDee and LouAnn. Together, they had Sheila and Charles Jr.

Chuck helped manage the Shipwheel Ranch along the Belle Fourche River and later he and Charlotte became owners of that ranch. Along with raising Registered Hereford Cattle, they became interested in the breeding and the racing of Quarter Horses. Together, some of the best bloodlines of the Inter-Mountain Region came out of the Pollard’s Stables. The most memorable was Dr. Kirk and his offspring.

Along with the enjoyment of fine cattle and fine horses, Chuck enjoyed the out-of-doors. Many stories were told of times spent with family members and friends, while hunting Antelope, Deer and Elk.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father Herb, mother Vita, sister Mary,
brother George and stepdaughter LynnDee.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte, son Charles Jr. (Tracie), Daughter Sheila ( Joe), stepdaughter LouAnn (George), sister Frances all of Sheridan, son Ronald (Terri) of Douglas, Wyo. and son Mark of Port Richey, Florida. He leaves behind nine grandchildren: Rodney, Brendon, Jenny, Stacey, Mandi, Shelbi, Kevin, Kerri, and Saige, along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 2:00pm on Monday (Oct. 18th) from Cornerstone CommChurch with the Rev. Tony Forman officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
