Charlotte M. Smith, 89, of Sheridan, WY, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Westview Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Smith was born July 15, 1920 in Sheridan to Roy and Goldie (Fetter) Graves.

Charlotte married Steve R. Smith January 11, 1947 in Billings, MT.

Mrs. Smith attended Big Horn and Sheridan Schools, graduating from Sheridan High School. She spent her life as a homemaker and nurturing her family.

It was after her husband Steve retired that she really enjoyed her new stage in life. Steve and Charlotte bought a place on Meade Creek and had horses and cows. She loved the country life, especially the sunrises and sunsets, and her loyal dog, King.

Charlotte enjoyed and loved her family as much as her family loved and enjoyed her.

Mrs. Smith belonged to the First United Methodist Church and Big Horn Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, brother, and infant sister.

Mrs. Smith is survived by 2 daughters, Cheryl M. Smith of Fort Collins, CO and Nancy Elkins of Sheridan; 1 brother, Bob Graves of Sheridan; 7 grandchildren, Alyssa Jolovich, Kimberly Brown, John Elkins, Heather Jones, Selina Nohr, Shelley La Mastra, and Steven Smith; 15 great grandchildren, Derrick Elkins, Cole Jolovich, Kelsi Hayden, Cody Jolovich, Brandon Elkins, Courtney Jolovich, Jace Brown, Evan Wilkins, Remington Nohr, Cade Wilkins, Colt Nohr, Jay La Mastra, Ashlyn Elkins, Tawni Nohr, and Lucas la Mastra.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor John Elkins officiating. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children’s Travel Fund, or the Hospice of The Big Horns at P.O. Box 391, Sheridan, WY 82801. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
