David G. Stevenson

About:

David Gene Stevenson, 49, of Sheridan, WY, passed away July 2, 2010 at Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, MT from complications of pneumonia and diabetes.

David was born February 15, 1961 to Charles Stevenson, JR. and Coralee Davis. He attended Highland Park Elementary School, Big Horn High School, and Sheridan College. While attending Big Horn High School, he was an outstanding football player, being named to both the Offense and Defense All State Football Team.

David began his construction career being employed by Ralph Kiewit and Fry Construction when building the Buttrey’s Food Building, now Albertson’s. He later went to Edwards Air Force Base in California for several years. Upon returning to Sheridan, he started his own business known as Stevenson Construction.

David was an avid outdoorsman. His activities ranged from motorcycling, 4-wheeling, snow machining, team roping at rodeos, to hunting and ice fishing. He also enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with friends at King’s Saddlery and teasing small children.

His mother will remember David as a “big teddy bear with a heart of gold”. He will be remembered by his friends as a very loving and caring person, always willing to give assistance when needed.

David is survived by his mother Coralee, and Bob Kaufmann, his father Charles Stevenson and stepmother Barbara; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Stevenson; step-brothers Ben (Lisa) and Scott (Nicki) LeVasseur; half-brother Mark Stevenson; step-father Dean Davis; aunts and uncles – Tom and Annette Buckley, Tom and Susan Malyurek, Kenny and Diane Stevenson, and Pam Stevenson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews with Bernie Connolly and Cathy Bard being very special cousins having been raised as close as a brother and sister.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of David’s life will be held at The Powder Horn on Wednesday, July 7th, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
