Dorothy Louise Benedict, 86, of Big Horn, WY died Friday, February 17, 2011 in her Big Horn home.

Dorothy was born March 9, 1925, in Hardin, MT to Benjamin & Irene (Miller) Shreve.

Dorothy grew up in the Big Horn area and graduated from high school in Sheridan, WY. She worked for the Telephone Co. for a time. Dorothy married Harry Mefford, Jr. in 1946. They live in South Carolina until returning to Big Horn and later divorced in 1981. She worked at the Mint Bar, Elks Lodge, B.H. Mtn. Eagles, Eagles 186 and the Last Chance Bar. She married Jim Benedict in 1982. He died in 1985. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, yard work, gardening and loved her family.

Dorothy is survived by her sons Tom Mefford & wife Cheryl of Hardin, MT, Richard Mefford & wife Vivian of Dalhart, TX and Gary Mefford & wife Sarah of Sheridan; granddaughter Ashley and great grandchildren Ava and Jack.

At Dorothy request no services will be held. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
