E. A. “Chic” Dunne, 75, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

“Chic” was born July 26, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa to George and Muriel (Wright) Dunne. He grew up and attended Holy Name School and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1952.

“Chic” joined the Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. After the service, he was a fireman in California, then moved to Sheridan where he was a fireman at the V. A. Hospital. In 1970, “Chic” started the WYO Barber Shop which he owned and operated until his death.

“Chic” married Dee Mathews December 15, 1955 in Sheridan.

He was a member of the Sheridan Elk’s Lodge #520, was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elk’s Lodge, a member of the American Lodge Post #7, Big Horn Mountain Eagle’s, the Marine Corps League, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

“Chic” was a trumpet player playing in numerous bands from his high school years until the present time. He was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed story-telling, and spending time with his family.

“Chic” was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, in 2008, his father, and one brother.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Dunne, of Silverdale, WA; and Matt Dunne, of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Michelle McCune, of Sheridan, WY; four brothers, Calvin Dunne, of Sheridan, WY, James Gualco, of Oregon, and Patrick Gualco, of MO, and Joseph Gualco, of IA; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; and his mother, Muriel Wilson.

Visitation for “Chic” will be from 3:00 P. M. to 5:00 P. M. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 14, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Phil Wold officiating. Interment will be in the Elk’s Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with graveside services by the Sheridan Elk’s Lodge #520 and military rites by the American Legion Post #7 and the Army National Guard. Champion Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in memory of “Chic” may be made to the National Cancer Society, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, or the Elk’s Youth Rodeo Program.
