Edward F (Bill) Heide passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. He was born on February 20, 1930 to Alex and Cathrine Heide in Torrington, Wyoming.At the age of 12 his first job was trailing horses from Big Horn, WY. to a ranch on the Powder River by himself. Then later he worked for area ranches in Sheridan County.Bill met his wife Juanita (Pierce) while she was working for Eaton’s Ranch. They married on September 15, 1948 in Sheridan, WY. Bill then enlisted in the United States Army in September, 1948 and served with the Army 101 Anti-Aircraft Division, known as the “Big Red One.” He then was released from the service and later called back to serve in the Korean War. Bill was ranked as a Sergeant upon his honorable discharge in 1951.Bill went to work for Salt Creek Freight Ways, in Sheridan, WY., working the day delivering freight to local business’s and also driving Semi’s between Sheridan and Billings Montana from 1951 until 1983. He served as The Union Steward for Teamsters during the 32 years he was employed with Salt Creek and also received numerous safe driving awards. He worked for The Sheridan Flour Mill, working the evening shift from 1951 until 1963. He worked 16 hours a day, 6 days a week for the 12 years that he was employed with both companies.Bill and Juanita purchased Heide’s Mobile Home Court in 1975. They owned and operated the court until they retired and sold in 2000. They enjoyed their winter home in Mesa, Arizona from 1994 until 2005. He loved spending time with his family, especially at the family cabin in the Big Horn Mountains. One of his favorite pastimes was reading western novels. He was a lifetime member of The Sheridan Elks Lodge #520.Bill was proceeded in death by his son, Kent, his parents, brothers; Raymond, Alex, Dave and Joe; sisters; Joyce and Delores.He is survived by his wife Juanita, sister MaryAnn McFarlane, son Keith (Debbie) Heide, Grandchildren, Renea (Matt) Parker, Justin (Stacy) Heide, Candace Barbero, and Jessica Heide. Great-Grandchildren, Treylee and McKailyn (Parker), Trent Heide, Laine and Gracie Barbero, Jesse Heide, Krisianna and Briston Heide. Several nieces and nephews.Bill was a dedicated and compassionate loving man, who will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.A private family memorial service is planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
