Elmer L. Schaffer Jr., 78, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Westview Health Care Center. He was born November 21, 1937 in Ritzville, WA to Elmer F. and Mary (Weitzel) Schaffer. He attended schools in Sheridan and after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in North Africa and other overseas stations from 1954 to 1958. After his military service, he married Barbara Kinter on Feb. 15, 1959 in Sheridan.
He worked for the Safeway Grocery stores until his retirement in 1997. Elmer was a member of the J.C.’s Sheridan Chapter and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, the mountains, traveling, football, stock car racing, and “Rodeo P.B.R. events.”
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Barbara. He is survived by his son, Robert L. Schaffer and daughter, Kim Wagner both of Sheridan, WY; brothers, Gerald and Ronald Schaffer both of Sheridan, WY; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A private family graveside will take place in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
