Francis M. Stampka, 75, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Sheridan V. A. Medical Center, Sheridan.
Francis Martin Stampka was born on August 8, 1927 at Jamestown, North Dakota to Frank E. and Doris (Lieberg) Stampka. He attended country school near Fried, North Dakota, graduated from Wimbledon, North Dakota High School, and North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He also attended the University of Utah.
Francis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served four years, 28 months of which were in the Far East in Japan and Okinawa.
In 1975 Francis married Dorothy J. Vondergeeste and together they worked at Veteran's Administration Centers at Fargo, North Dakota, Fort Harrison, (Helena) Montana, and Sheridan, Wyoming. Francis retired as an Addiction Therapist after 30 years of service.
Mr. Stampka was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; and one brother, Larry.
He is survived by his children, Marty (Chris) Stampka, of Sheridan, Wyoming, James Stampka, of Sheridan, Wyoming, Dennis (Angel) Stampka, of Great Falls, Montana, Lori Stampka, of Great Falls, Montana, and Debra (Dan) Metcalf, of Glendive, Montana; two step-children, Ilene (Jack) Sipe, Jr., of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Kim Jace, of Edgewater, Florida; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Francis will be 1:00 P. M. Monday, June 24, 2013 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Louis Shea officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
