Gerald Lee Banks, 66, of Sheridan, WY died Friday, February 17, 2012, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Gerald was born March 12, 1945, in Powell, WY to Eldon & Frances (Long) Banks.
Gerald grew up in Frannie, WY and attended schools in Frannie graduating from high school in Dever, WY in 1963. He attended Northwest Community College in Powell then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 serving in Viet Nam and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After the service, he returned to Wyoming. Gerald married Cathy Buell on December 23, 1966. He worked in the oil fields, in finance and motel management retiring in 2001 due to health issues. He moved to Sheridan in May, 2011. An active member of the LDS Church, he was a Bishop in Douglas, WY and served in other offices. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice cream. He loved spending time with his wife, his lifetime companion.
Gerald is survived by his wife Cathy of Sheridan; son Lee and wife Tammy of Evansville, WY; brother Dean Banks & wife Gladys of Elephant Head, NM; sister Shirley Banks of Rushville, NE.
Viewing will be 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday (Feb. 20th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2:00pm on Tuesday in Willow Grove Cemetery, Buffalo, WY with Bishop Kwin Wilkes officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
