Guadalupe "Lupe" Serna

Guadalupe (Lupe) Serna, 82, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4th, 2011 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.

Guadalupe was born on November 23rd, 1928 in Raymondville, Texas to Felicito and Rita Serna. He was the youngest of seven children, and was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Pancho, Pascual, Istolio, and sisters Pilar, Paulita, and Angelita.

Guadalupe married Ninfa Jimenez in Mercedes, Texas on November 27th, 1948. Guadalupe and Ninfa lived in Texas for three years, before moving to Hardin, Montana in 1951 where Guadalupe worked for Holly Sugar. In 1952 he went to work for the CB&Q Railroad as a section laborer. In 1956 the family moved to Parkman, WY. He worked for the CB&Q and then Burlington Northern railroads until his retirement as a track inspector in 1985.

Guadalupe is survived by his wife Ninfa, of Sheridan, and his children, Maricela Feldaus (James), of Columbus, NE, Guadalupe Serna, Jr., (Laurie) of Euless, TX, Delia Serna, of Sheridan, WY, Alicia Cassell, (Ron), of Fort Collins, CO, Juan Serna, (Lillian), of Ranchester, WY, Rita Jean Ash, (Jon), of Alliance, NE, Fernando Serna, (Millie), of Parkman, WY, and 17 grandchildren, Bob Alley, of Sheridan, WY, Jason Feldhaus, of Lincoln, NE, Michael Morris, of Broomfield, CO, Nichole Alley, of Casper, WY, Christina Fauth, o Stevenson, WA, Sabrina Weros, of Colorado Springs, CO, Juanito Serna, of Los Angeles, CA, Joni Lynn Ash, of Hemingford, NE, Melissa Dahir, of Omaha, NE, Steven Serna, of Loveland, CO, Erika Serna, of Austin, TX, Suzanne Serna, o Denver, CO, Fred Ash, of Hemingford, NE, Jerry Ash, of Torrington, WY, Pete Serna, of Sheridan, WY, Ron Christiansen, Jr., of Fort Collins, CO, Justin Feldhaus, of Lincoln, NE, and by 20 great grandchildren, each of whom meant the world to Great Grandpa Serna. He is also survived by his brother, Juan Serna, of Weslaco, TX, and many nieces and nephews in Texas and Mexico.

Visitation for Guadalupe will be from 1:00 P. M. to 4:00 P. M. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7:00 P. M. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 A. M. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ronald Stoicis as Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Guadalupe’s grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters. Interment will be in the Elk’s Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Holy Name Catholic Parish Hall immediately following the interment. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
