Harold S. Neu, 87, of Dayton, WY, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Amy Holt Nursing Home, Buffalo, WY.

Harold was born December 10, 1923, in Goodland, Kansas, to Henry & Mary (Stewart) Neu.

Harold grew up in Kansas and Powell, WY. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served in the Philippines on Torpedo boats. Harold married Doris Adams on November 16, 1946, in Powell. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Agriculture in 1952. He returned to Powell after graduation to work with his father as a building contractor and built many homes in Powell. He and his daughter Mona were active in the Powell Valley Riding Club and horseshows. He was also an American Quarter horse judge. In 1969, they moved the family to Dayton and purchased the Dayton Texaco Service Station. He also built the Dew Drop Inn Drive-In in Dayton. After he sold the service station, he spent his later years working on a small ranch and enjoying his horses. Harold loved horses and all animals. He enjoyed being in the great outdoors. His other love was music and dancing with his wife especially to country-western music.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters, a step sister and step brother.

Harold is survived by his daughters Vickie Martin & husband Tom of Sheridan, Michele Lofgren & husband Nels of Buffalo, Mona Scott of Dayton and Tami Neu of Butte, MT; eight grandchildren Jill Martin of Sheridan, Justin Martin & wife Colleen of Billing, MT, Jennifer Mitchell & husband Cord of Billings, MT, Jamie Scott of Dayton, Ryan Lofgren of Bloomington, IL, Luke Reddinger of Bozeman, MT and Marcie Reddinger of Butte, MT; and twin great grandchildren Keen and Vance Scott-Schmaus.

Cremation has taken place and graveside service will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Powell later this spring along with a family gathering. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
