Harvey James Poeling, 73, of Dayton, Wyoming, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Mr. Poeling was born on April 14, 1938 in Clifton, Arizona to C. M. and Polly Anna (Boswell) Poeling. He attended school in Lewiston, Idaho and then joined the Idaho National Guard in April of 1956. In February of 1957 Harvey joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, Florida.
In August of 1963 Mr. Poeling married Patsy Kay McMillan and had six children, Shannon, Juston, Polly, Hugh James, Margaret, and Constance. Harvey moved his family from Idaho to Texas in August of 1966 where he worked as a high rise steel worker and heavy equipment operator. In April of 1980, Harvey and his family moved to Wyoming.
In May of 1993, Harvey married Della A. McClure and together they had one daughter, LaRae. Mr. Poeling also had three step-children, Brenda, Donna, and John.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Murlin Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Della, of Dayton, Wyoming; son Shannon, (Kine), of Victoria, Texas, son Juston, (Shannon), of Castle Rock, Washington, daughter, Polly, (Carl), of Kadoka, South Dakota, son, Hugh James, of Sheridan, Wyoming, daughter, Margaret, (Craig), of Lufkin, Texas, daughter, Constance, of Gillette, Wyoming, daughter, LaRae, (Jason), of Gillette, Wyoming; three step-children; 25 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Linda VanTassell, of Ashland, Tennessee, sister, Paulette Crane, of Huntington, Texas; brother, Dale Stevon Poeling, of Kadoka, South Dakota, and brother Patrick Poeling, of Capitan, New Mexico.
Graveside service for Mr. Poeling will be 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, Wyoming with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the committal at the Poeling residence at 427 W. 2nd Ave, in Dayton.
