Helen M. Barello

About:

Helen Marie Kuzara Barello, 98, of Sheridan, WY died Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Helen was born on January 30, 1915, to Polish emigrants George and Sophia (Mendrak) Kuzara in Windham, Montana.

The family moved to the Sheridan area when she was three years old. She attended school in Dietz, WY. She married James Barello on February 26, 1933, in Monarch, WY and together they managed the Acme Mercantile and Post Office until 1970. Helen drove twice daily to Kleeburn to deliver mail bags to meet the trains and often she barely made it and they had to open the side door so she could toss the bags up and into the mail car. She was aptly given the name Postal Packing Mama by the station manager. They had a daughter, Shirley, in 1939. Helen loved to play cards, make rag rugs, cook, read and crochet. However, the most favorite pastime was to baby sit and play grandmother to many children.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Jim in 1976; also her parents; brothers Stanley Kuzara (Pauline), Joseph Kuzara (Maude), Andrew Kuzara, John Kuzara (Leonora), Henry Kuzara (Dorothy), Walter Kuzara (Marie), Mike Kuzara (Betty); sisters Mary Mentock (Andrew), Anna Eccli (Victor), Rose Barbula (William F.) and Charlotte Adamy (Wayne).

Helen is survived by her daughter Shirley Coy and one sister-in-law and friend Mary Bordeaux, many nieces and nephews, and great and great great nieces and nephews. To the end, she loved keeping in touch with them.

There will be a big memorial picnic sometime this summer and we will notify everyone.
Inurnment of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit Holy Name Catholic School.
