Jack Sipe was born on April 23, 1938 in Moorcroft, Wyoming to Maria (Tally) Sipe and Manual Sipe.
He attended elementary and junior high schools in Nebraska and Moorcroft, Wyoming and high school in Bighorn, Wyoming. Jack passed away October 24, 2011.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Sipe, grandsons Terry “Tiger” Sipe and Travis Price, mother, father, brothers and sister.
Jack is survived by granddaughter Dawn Michelle Sipe and great granddaughter Kahley Mechelle Sipe; son Howard “Jack” (Eileen) Sipe Jr. and family (grandson Joel (Summer) Mueller and great granddaughters Joely and Sage Mueller); daughter Deena (Reuben) Bates and family (granddaughters Cody Bates, Sarah (Chris) Bennett-Hayden; grandsons Matt and Chad (Toni) Bates; great grandchildren Tyler Bennett, Derek Bates, Ashley and Lexy Bates);
Jack is also survived by his step-son Ken (Ceci) Fitzpatrick and family (grandsons Howie (Sandy), Darin, and Ryan (Sarah) Fitzpatrick and great grandsons Zachary, Brandon, and Nathaniel Fitzpatrick); His step-daughter Jo Ann Brantz and family (grandsons Cody, Kyle, and Colter Brantz; great grandchildren Emery Brantz, Areya Brantz, Cassie and Vickie Nesbitt, and Kaden Fife); Ed (Carmel) Brantz and Chuck (Cheryl) Onckelet; brother Frank Sipe of Medicine Bow, Wyoming and sister Marie Adsit of Sheridan, Wyoming as well as numerous distant relatives and many, many wonderful friends.
Jack was a hardworking man who had a variety of jobs in his seventy-three years. He held such diverse occupations as shearing sheep, milking cows, ranch hand, ranch manager, taxi cab driver, bartender, hay hauler, shoe and boot repair, and farrier. His favorite role, however, was that of Grandpa to all of his grandchildren.
Jack loved hunting, pack trips, chariot racing, roping, or anything to do with a horse. He also liked watching sports, gambling, and dancing. It was not uncommon for the dance floor to clear when he and Maxine danced the polka and waltz. Jack had the gift of gab also. He was never afraid to offer his opinion whether you asked for it or not. Jack was a member of the Bighorn Lions Club; Elks #520; and Draft Horse Club.
Public viewing will be from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Friday, October 28, 2011 from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery with reception to follow at Bighorn Mountain Eagles at 1760 Commercial Avenue, Sheridan, Wyoming.
