James F. "Jim" McKinzie, 71, of Sheridan, Wyo., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, in Sheridan Manor. Jim was born February 19, 1939 in Noblesville, Indiana to James Wilbur and Hazel Louise (Cross) McKinzie. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas. Jim married Carole (Roeder) from Indiana in 1958, then later divorced. He moved back and forth from Indiana to Wyoming since the 1940s, then settled in Sheridan, Wyo., in 1981. Jim and Betty (Ross) married on July 18, 1991. Jim's interests included hunting, camping, and riding ATVs. He and his wife frequently visited Yellowstone National Park and the Big Horn National Forest. He loved his career as a tow truck driver and worked for nearly 60 years before retiring in 2008. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Arminta Nahmias. Jim is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Debbie Abbott of Noblesville; son, James Jr. of Sheridan; daughter, Michelle McKinzie-Borski of Pendleton, Ind.; sister-in-law, Billie Jo Handel of Sheridan; stepchildren, Stacey and Richard Morris of North Dakota, Jerry Copp of Montana, Jean Anderson of Gillette, Wyo., Keith Robinson and family of Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kayleen McKinzie of Sheridan; grandchildren, Brenda McKinzie of Montana, Codee McKinzie of Sheridan, and Hunter Borski of Pendleton, Ind.; step-grandchildren, Cory Lemke of Washington, Kayla French of North Dakota and Jessica Copp of Montana; nephew, Sammy Nahmias of Indiana; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Forman officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
