John G. Gleissner, 67, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Gleissner was born June 3, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to John N. and Eva (Harnisfegher) Gleissner. He grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY where he attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Grover Cleveland High School.
Mr. Gleissner served in the United States Marine Corps from January 1960 to January 1964, serving in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
John married Valerie E. Walker April 9, 1965 in the Sacred Heart Church in New York.
He worked for American Airlines for 36 years in fleet service, (Air Freight).
Mr. Gleissner was a member of the American Legion, Eagles #4169, the Elks Lodge, Big Horn Mt. Lodge #43 A. F. & A. M., and the Kalif Shrine. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and traveling.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Valerie.
He is survived by one son, John Gleissner, of Bohemia, NY; one daughter, Maureen Gleissner, of Pocatello, ID; three brothers, Robert Gleissner & Arthur Gleissner, of NY, and Fred Gleissner, of FL; and two sisters, Nancyann Bach & Marian O’Rourke both of NY; and his significant other, Bette Hess.
Visitation for John will be from 11:30 A. M. to 12:30 P. M. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the Elk’s Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
