John Gorman

About:

John Gorman of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away on December 26, 2012. He was born February 9, 1913, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to immigrant parents, the youngest of five children. John was three months old when his father was killed in a mining accident. The family moved around before settling in Sheridan where John grew up. John worked for several local ranches as a young man, including the PK Ranch and others. In 1937, John went to work for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad, now Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1974 with 37 years of service. In 1981, John appeared as “Sheriff Sonny Gorman” in an opening scene of the movie “Endangered Species.”
John was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna, of 64 years, and an infant great grandchild, Joey Cheeney. John is survived by his children, Carol (Richard) Cheeney of Sheridan; Robert Gorman of Ogden, Utah; and Ronald (Diana) Gorman of Cheyenne, Wyoming. John is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial service at 10:00am on Monday (Dec. 31st) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center, Sheridan, Wyoming.
