 Judith “Judy” Diane (Frey) Hoyt returned to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on September 22, 2020.  Judy died at Green House Living for Sheridan in Sheridan, Wyoming. Rosary will be held at Champions Funeral Home in Sheridan on Tuesday,September 29th at 6:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 precautions, a private Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Judy at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic church in Story.  Burial will be at the Quiet Rest Cemetery near Story.

 

Judy was born in Gillette, Wyoming on April 6, 1929 to Tobias and Nellie Frey.  She was youngest of four Frey children; her older siblings were Bernice, Lou, and Phil. Judy grew up and attended school in Rozet, Wyoming. She moved with her parents to Monarch in 1944 and graduated from Sheridan High School in1947.  After high school, Judy taught elementary school for two years in area country schools.  She married the love of her life, Floyd“Sonny” Hoyt, Jr. on April 23, 1949. Judy and Sonny worked hard raising their children and building a successful ranching business.  Theyranched in the Story and Arvada areas, retiring to Story in the late1990s.  Judy was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church since 1961 and served as one of the first EMTs in the Story Volunteer Fire Department.  She loved her family, helping Sonny with ranch work, working in her huge gardens,socializing with her many friends and helping anyone in need in her family and community.  She was a lifelong and devout Catholic.

 

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and son, Larry.  She is survived by her sons, Dave (Barb) of Leiter and John (Mari) of Story, her daughter Chris Legler of Story and her daughter-in-law Rhonda Hoyt of New Braunfels, Texas.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff of Green House Living – Founders House, for their six years of care for Judy; they loved her and she loved them.  If desired, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, 9 South Connor, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801 or The Story Library, PO Box 188, Story, Wyoming 82842.  Champion Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.  Online condolences maybe written at www.championfh.com.
