Lois Lillian Cook Masters, age 96, of Sheridan, Wyoming died June 21, 2011 at Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan.

Lois was born August 20, 1914 to Clyde C. Cook and Ida Bell Dayton Cook in Manhattan, Kansas. Lois moved with her family to Sheridan in 1919 when she was five years old. She attended Taylor, Central, and Big Horn School, Miller Country Day School and Sheridan High School.

Lois was an accomplished seamstress and talented sewing machine artist. She worked as a seamstress for over twenty years at Rudy Mudra’s Saddlery where she crafted fringed jackets, vests and purses from leather. She went on to work for the Big Horn Saddlery, Louise Frances, Jerry Benfit and King Saddlery. After retiring at the age of sixty five, Lois taught various forms of sewing machine art such as embroidery, portraiture, lace work and quilting both locally and out of state.

She loved traveling and enjoyed demonstrating her machine art at local and national conventions. Lois also enjoyed reading and cooking. She loved flowers and particularly enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over sixty years and belonged to numerous service groups within the church; such as, Stephens Ministry, Trinity Lutheran Women, and the Sewing Service Group.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, David Eugene Masters, whom she married on June 12, 1959; a son, Frank Albert Meadows; two step-sons, David J. Masters and Donald Masters; a brother, Vernon Cook; and two nephews, Virgil Cook and Vernon Vance Cook.

Survivors include a son, Richard Griffin of Montgomery, AL; a daughter, Niala Meadows of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter- in-law, Carol Masters of Dayton, Wyoming; two step-daughters, Nora Lou Maters Gugler of Kalispell, Montana, Nancy Masters Ketchum of Sheridan; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. She dearly loved all of her family.

Viewing will 9:00am until time of funeral service at 10:00am on Saturday (June 25th) from Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Wold officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit Trinity Lutheran Church or the Sheridan Senior Center.
