Mary M. Shassetz, 95, of Sheridan, WY died Monday, February 14, 2011, in Sheridan Manor.

Mary was born September 12, 1915, in Rock Springs, WY to Marco & Manda (Babich) Balen.

Mary grew up and graduated from high school in Rock Springs. She married Paul Shassetz on April 2, 1937, in Salt Lake City, UT. They lived in Rock Springs and Reliance, WY until moving to Sheridan in 1947 where they farmed south of Sheridan. They moved into Sheridan in 1957 and she worked for the Cloverleaf Bakery until she retired. Paul died in 1968. Mary was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, raising flowers, cooking and being outdoors. She was very devoted to her faith and belief in God. Mary loved her grandchildren and family.

Mary was also preceded in death by her son Paul, Jr., two brother and six sisters.

Mary is survived by her sons Carl of Oklahoma City, OK and John of Sheridan; daughter Patricia Boykin of Sheridan; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Vigil service will be 7:00pm on Wednesday (Feb. 16th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with funeral liturgy at 10:00am on Thursday with Father Rob Spaulding officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
