Orville L. "Hogi" Menges, 69, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, in the Veterans Home in Sheridan, Wyo., after an extended illness.Mr. Menges was a native of Bisbee, Ariz., and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart, branched armor. After leaving the military he moved back to Arizona where he worked in the copper mines for many years. He later returned to Hinesville where he worked as a master plumber for the Georgia National Guard Training Center for more than 30 years before retiring and moving to Sheridan.Mr. Menges was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be sorely missed by his hunting and fishing buddies. He was a Disabled American Veteran and a lifelong member and past president of the Hinesville DAV.He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur O. Menges, and his mother, Nora-May Menges, also of Hinesville.He is survived by one son, Stephen Menges of Glennville; one grandson, also of Glennville; and a brother, Larry Menges of Idaho.Services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Flemington Presbyterian Church. The Rev Greg Loskoski will officiate.
