Paula Darlyne Montgomery Herman was born May 16, 1938 and died March 4, 2020.

Paula Darlyne Herman was born to Paul and Virginia (Cobb)Montgomery on May 16, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois. She contracted polio at the age of 2. She graduated in 1956 from East High School in Aurora, Illinois.  She met the love of her life Harold Herman and they were married on September 1, 1956 at Evangelical United Brethren Church,Chicago, Illinois.  They had three children; Caryn (David) Rivinius, Gackle, ND, Hans (Jeanan) Herman, Sheridan,WY, Kort (Rebecca) Herman, Rapid City, SD.

In 1970 they moved to Ranchester where they purchased the Best Western Motel that they owned and managed until 1976.  In 1978 they built a restaurant called Happy’s Hut.  Paula had various jobs; she was the secretary at Tongue River High School for several years, she then worked at Tongue River Cable until her retirement. In October, 2019 Paula entered the Westview nursing facility following surgery where she resided until her death.

Paula was active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority chapter in Illinois and Ranchester.  She enjoyed cross stitch, water color painting and solving crossword puzzles in her spare time.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 52years, one granddaughter, Katherine Herman and a great grandson, Jacob(Rivinius) Horning.  She is survived by her children, 10 grandchildren; Jaymie, John (Samantha), Juliana, Christina,Harrison, Gabriel, Jackson, Kaitlynn, Eliana, Makayla and her great granddaughter Eleanor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paula’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children c/o Donor Relations 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14,2020 at 11:00 am with Mike Keller officiating at the Ranchester Community Church.  Champion Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements. Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.
