Pennie Lillian Creek, age 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep October 09, 2022.

She and her two brothers were born in Buffalo on June 23, 1952 to Darwin and Lillian Creek in Johnson County Memorial Hospital (now a residence) on High Street. David died at birth, and Doug died at age 2—the three were the first set of triplets born in Johnson County Memorial Hospital.

As a daughter of a Wyoming Game and Fish Warden, she spent her youth in several places around the state, including Caribou Resort and Medicine Bow, then eventually graduating from Pinedale High School in 1970.

Pennie married Mike Olson and they moved to Buffalo with their two children in 1976, where she worked as a nurse’s aid and sang with the group Sweet Adelines. After Pennie and Mike divorced, she spent several years in Oregon, but eventually moved back to Buffalo and lived there for over twenty years until her death.

In her later years, she continued to serve the community of Buffalo as a volunteer at St. Francis Animal Shelter. From the birds and deer in the yard to the cat in her lap and the dog at her feet, she was always happy surrounded by critters.

Pennie is survived by four sisters (Lenora, Jolene, Rubye, and Ellie), one daughter (Lyneta), one son (Monte), four granddaughters (Mariah, Katie, Madison, and Makayla), and two great-grandsons (Evan and Cayden). She leaves behind many other extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beckie, four nephews (Kenny, Jesse, Willie Lee, Tyrone), and her brothers.

Per her wishes, no memorial service is planned, but a donation in honor of Pennie’s memory to the St. Francis Animal Shelter at 109 Flatiron Drive, Buffalo, WY 82834 would be deeply appreciated by the family.
