Robert Frederick Kvidahl, 74, passed away October 29, 2011, at Sheridan Manor, in Sheridan, Wyoming.

He was born on March 5, 1937, to Ebba (Engleson) and Christoffer Kvidahl in Elk Point, South Dakota. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1954. After graduation from Elk Point High School in 1955, where he loved playing football, he married Shirley Bertrand. They had three children and were divorced in 1978. Bob received his bachelor’s degree in 1959, his master’s degree in education in 1963, and his doctorate of education in 1978, all from the University of South Dakota. In 1979 he married Joan Drury. They divorced in 1987.
Bob had a long career in education, beginning as an elementary school principal, later a high school principal, high school teacher in California, junior high school teacher, guidance counselor, director of student teaching, finally retiring as an associate professor in 1995 after 26 years in the College of Education at the University of Wyoming.
In 1987 he married Marcine Miller (Macklin). They moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1996 where he became active at Trinity Lutheran Church serving once as the church council president. Bob had a fine singing voice and won many awards at state competitions in South Dakota. He later played “Harold Hill” in the musical, “Music Man.” He also sang with many church choirs.
In earlier times, he loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and go camping. Bob played a sharp game of cribbage with family rivals and met regularly with the Knights of Columbus Card Club. He also served formally and informally as a Steven Minister in Laramie and Sheridan. Bob was often seen around town riding with his Springer Spaniel, Ben. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and South Dakota roots, a founding member of his high school booster club, the Elk Point Pointers.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Reinert (infant), Edward, William, and Reinert Olaf (Bud); sister, Helen; and a niece, Dietta.

He is survived by his wife, Marcine of Sheridan; daughter, Deetta Rapp and grandson, Stan; granddaughter, Ashley Kallal and great grandson, Willliam, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming; son and his wife, Greg and Trish Kvidahl and granddaughters, Amber and Sara, all of Aurora, Colorado; daughter and her husband, Terri and Carl Majewski; granddaughter, Heidi and her husband, Jeremy Godwin and great granddaughter, Ella; and grandson, Levi, all of Laramie, Wyoming.

Memorial service will be 11:00am on Saturday (Nov. 5th) from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Phil Wold officiating. His cremains will be entered into the columbarium in the church chapel. A luncheon will follow. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
