Roger L. Cox

Roger L. Cox, 86, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Cox was born August 30, 1923 in Oshkosh, Nebraska. He moved with his family at the age of 4 to Moorcroft, Wyoming where he grew up and attended schools. He then worked on various ranches in the Moorcroft area.

Roger moved to the Sheridan area in the early 1940’s where he continued to work on ranches.

He married Lilas M. Carroll on April 7, 1945 in Sheridan, WY. Roger went to work for the U. S. Forest Service as a Forestry Technician retiring after 29 years of service in 1988. He then worked for C & K Equipment for 10 years.

Mr. Cox was a member of the Sheridan Wesleyan Church in Sheridan. He enjoyed riding horses, working on everyone’s cars, tending to his garden, and visiting with friends and neighbors. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Lilas, of Sheridan, WY; two sons, James G. Cox, of Prescott, Arizona, and Russell Cox, of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Ray Cox, of Buffalo, WY; two sisters, Lavern Davidson and Arian Harper, both of Sheridan, WY; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Memorial service for Roger will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Sheridan Wesleyan Church with Pastor Darrell White officiating.
