Sunshine Sue Stephenson Clifford, 101, of Sheridan, died March 2, 2010, in Sheridan Manor. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Monday, March 8, 2010 in the Elks section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Reverend Kevin Jones officiating. Born March 13, 1908, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Dudley Gid and Lily Ann (Lock) Stephenson, she moved a few years later to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she attended school through the 8th grade, and then high school in San Antonio, Texas, and Amarillo, Texas. She married William J. Clifford on November 19, 1927, in Dallas, Texas. The couple moved to Sheridan in the early 1930's.She worked as a hostess for the Golden Steer Restaurant from 1963 to 1976. She was a charter member of BPOE Does in Sheridan, and she served as the Sheridan County Chairperson of the March of Dimes and Easter Seals for many years. She was a creative cook and seamstress and enjoyed creating panoramic Easter eggs (which she sold locally); playing Bridge with friends; quilting by hand bed covers; and traveling across the country and abroad. She was preceded in death by her husband.
