Thelma R. Isakson, 103, passed away quietly at Westview Health Care Center on November 4, 2011 after a short illness. She was born in Martinsburg, PA to Mahlon and Ada Replogle on January 26, 1908. She was one of 4 children who were orphaned do to the Flue Epidemic of 1918.

After graduation from high school, Thelma attended pre-med studies at Susquhanna University and subsequently earned an RN degree from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland in 1931. She worked as a nurse in Connecticut until 1965 and then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be near family, and nursed at DePaul Hospital until retirement in 1973. She moved to Dayton, Wyoming with her family and has been in Sheridan County for 38 years.

She married Frank O. Isakson in 1930 and moved to Washington, CT. They had two daughters, Thelma R. Peterson, and Doris Elaine Isakson who passed in 1947.

She was well known for repairing antique dolls and doing beautiful crochet work. She belonged to the Benefit Club and the old Congregational Church in Dayton. She also worked with her daughter at the Red Barn Antique Shop in Dayton. She has lived with her daughter Thelma in Sheridan for the last nine years.

Thelma was a very forward thinking and rather pioneering spirit who has inspired her great granddaughters into higher education. Several higher degrees have been earned or are being worked toward. She was most loving and was well liked by the many people she encountered.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her three siblings, her husband, one daughter, and one grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma R. Peterson, Sheridan, her grandson, Bob (Lynn) of Sheridan, and 4 great grand daughters.

Memorial serviced will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
