Welda L. “Billie” Calkins Broom, 94, of Sheridan died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Per her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Cremains will be placed at her parent’s grave site in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Born Jan. 12, 1915, in Noble, Ill., to James Frederick and Anna (Harris) Roe, she grew up in the Salt Lake City area. She moved to Sheridan in the late 1940’s. She worked at several businesses including D&D Hardware, Jersey Creamery, Sheridan Commercial Company and Duncan and Dickinson. She enjoyed sewing, cooking baking and refinishing furniture. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and her husbands.‍Survivors include a son, Scott Calkins of Sheridan; a daughter, Janis L. Calkins of Sheridan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
